St. Andrew School’s policy on outstanding school food service balances is as follows:
St. Andrew Catholic Elementary School has a legal agreement for participation in the USDA and Illinois State Board Nutrition Program; as such the school must follow certain program guidelines including establishing a policy on outstanding school food service balances due. St. Andrew School has established $15 OR 5 meals as the maximum amount that a student can charge to their lunch account. The term “charging” refers to all forms of exchange of verbal or signed agreement for payment of a meal after the service of the meal. Per USDA regulations, if a student has reached the maximum amount of $15 OR 5 meals charges, St. Andrew School must deny that reduced-price or full-price student a Hot Lunch Meal until they provide the required payment for all past due meals under the $15 OR 5 meal maximum. This policy must be implemented and followed consistently. In cases of meals being charged, an emailed or written notice will be sent to parents outlining the account balance, the school policy per USDA regulations and a date on which the adverse actions will go into effect.
